Pregnancy Tattoos
Posted on 18. Feb, 2009 in Featured, Misc
This kind of tattoos are called the Ainu. Tattoo had quite different purpose in the past, and in some cultures it still keeps its primal function, and that is the protection. Tattoo was used for protection rather than decoration; in particular for protection during pregnancy and birth when woman is exposed to most risk. During a pregnancy, the net-like pattern of the tattoo would expand across the stomach protectively, and figures god would sometimes protected women during childbirth, were tattooed on their thighs. All of this was meant to keep children healthy in the womb and protect both mother and child during pregnancy and childbirth. Hey, if you don’t have a doctor, you’ve got to do something, right?

I have never seen something like that before, adding to that it was thought to protect both mother and child during pregnancy and childbirth makes it more weird to me.

I FOUND IT TO BE REALLY CUTE BUT VERY MUCH WEIRD TO TRY TO PUT MYSELF DOIING SUCH THING. IT IS SO EASY NOW TO VIEW THE CREATION AND THE SECRET OF GOD, WHICH IS CONSIRED TO BE A TEMPLE

THIS IS THE MOST DISGUSTING THING I HAVE EVER SEEN SINCE YALL NEED TO BE THINKING ABOUT YOUR CHILD, AND ANYWAYS IT LOOK WRONG FOR YOU.

Whats so disgusting about it? There cute pregnancy pictures and its something that I would like to do when I decide to have kids. How is she not thinking of her child, she was probably just making memories of her pregnancy and I happen to think that she did it in a pretty way. AND IT DOES NOT LOOK WRONG FOR HER.

You guys, to settle all your issues. In the pictures above they are called heena tatoos. Its simply a dye; that washes off within weeks. The mother was simply trying to portray the beauty of being a pregnant mother. Beauty she has accomplished; well done. Maybe the other bloggers should be more intelligent before they judge?

13. May, 2009
Henna tattoos are not permanent
so therefor, when she does have the baby it won’t
matter cause eventually it will be gone if not already
by the time the baby is born.
And why would you think its disgusting, pregnancy
is not disgusting, its a beautiful thing.

I totally agree with you rebecca! she is disgusting!!! she would probably still look that gross when she wasnt pregnant!! fat and ugly and drawing a load of attention to it!!! the idiot needs a serious reality check!!! she has some issues like!
samantha
21. May, 2009
i think she looks beautiful, and i would totally get one. I don’t see any problem with it. And what makes you people so high and mighty to be able to judge what she wants to do with her body and her pregnancy. To call her fat and ugly is horrible and makes you way more ugly than she could ever be.

we all come from females, we all have mothers and i am pretty shore that when each of our mothers was pregnant with us they were very proud and did not try to hide their bellys. being pregnant is the most awsome experience in the world not every woman can and no man can ever experience it . COME ON PEOPLE GET REAL TATS TO REMMEMBER STUFF IN THEIR LIVES.SOME EVEN SILLY REASONS.

The Henna mahendi is wonderful! I know it is a beautiful experience. I’ve given my sister and a good friend a mahindi blessing and it was a great bonding time and so much fun to talk about the upcomming baby, names, plans etc. more people should take the time to do this. These mahendi blessings take a good hour to draw, and only last a week or so on a pregnant belly. But it’s so worth the time!

this is crazy all these people think that because it say s tattoo that it is a real piece of skin art. one that never comes of really the def of tattoo is n. pl. tat·toos
1. A permanent mark or design made on the skin by a process of pricking and ingraining an indelible pigment or by raising scars.
2. A design made on the skin with a temporary dye such as henna or ink.
and this people is henna tattoos…it is really a great idea… and as for the fat comments…. this girl is real and she as another person growing in her belly i would like to see you stay a perfect form when you grow a person in your belly!!!!! she is a real person and should be respected as much !!! shame on you !!!

This is the most beautifull thing I have ever seen! When I was pregnant I felt huge and cow-like. But this is a way to hold what you belive and also to feel beautifull wile being pregnate. Henna tattooing is awsome too. Also, beliving that your protecting yourself and your unborn child is a GOOD thing. Awsome pics!
