USS Independence LCS-2

USS Independence (LCS-2) is the second class prototype for the Independence-class littoral combat ship. It was designed and built by Bath Iron Works, Aural and General Dynamics. It’s a small assault transport that may be used for various types of military tasks. It has lots of capabilities depending on the mission module installed. Ship’s trimatan design allows it to make over 40 knots (74 km/h; 46 mph). By the end of 2009 such ships will become part of the US Navy. This type of vessel has maximum range of 20′000 kilometers and crew of 40 sailors.
